It’s the game everyone in Pickens County waits for each year. The rivalry game between the Green Wave of Easley High School and their rivals: the Pickens High School Blue Flame.

This year, due to incoming inclement weather from Hurricane Ian, the game was moved from its normal Friday night timeslot to Thursday night. The Green Wave squad traveled down Highway 8 to Pickens to meet the Blue Flame on the road.

Both teams had winning records going into the game on Thursday night, but that would change before the night was over.

Game Recap

The Blue Flame was first to strike and held Easley to only 7 points in the first half.

Going into the second half Pickens had a comfortable lead at 21-7.

The 3rd quarter saw Easley chip away at that lead by adding a touchdown to their side of the scoreboard, but the real story begins in the 4th quarter.

Down 21-14, the Green Wave scored three 4th quarter touchdowns to mount this storybook comeback.

QB Kalab Sutton scored the game-winning rushing touchdown to put Easley up 35-28 with just seconds left on the clock.

The Green Wave are on a 5-game win streak going undefeated since losing in week 1 to Daniel.

Next up, Easley faces the 2-1 Greenwood Eagles in a regional matchup in Greenwood, SC.
