When asked to give a statement about his thoughts on their accomplishments so far, wrestling coach Tim Turner gave the following statement:
“All four of our wrestlers are underclassman and we are excited for their future. Scott Spoden (11th grade) was a state qualifier last year and is in good position to place in the top four this year. Hunter Galloway (11th grade) was one match away from qualifying last year and is also in a good position to place as well. Cayden Freeze (11th Grade) and Isaac Pereira (10th Grade) are both good wrestlers but both have defending state champions in their first round matches. All four have wrestled hard this year and we are expecting great things from them this weekend.”
This is Coach Turner’s first year at Easley High School teaching and coaching. His family relocated back to Easley this past summer after 30 years being out of state. His oldest son, Evan Turner, is the Assistant Wrestling Coach. He was born in Easley 31 years ago, and he also in his first year teaching and coaching at Easley. They are excited to get to coach together, and look forward to a great future building a wrestling program together.
Tim Turner told us, “I also serve at a bi-vocational pastor at Enon Baptist Church. That makes me a preaching, teaching, coach.”
The two day event will begin Friday morning, February 23, 2023 with the quarterfinals at the Anderson Sports and Entertainment Center.
