Easley’s Officer Josh Blinkey receives the 2022 Outstanding Law Enforcement Officer Award

Tuesday evening, School Resource Officer Josh Blinkey was presented the 2022 Outstanding Law Enforcement Officer Award by American Legion Post 52.

Since joining the department in 2019, Officer Blinkey has consistently displayed a drive to better both himself and his peers through education and the practical application of his skills and knowledge.

Currently, Officer Blinkey serves as the School Resource Officer at Gettys Middle School where he is well-respected by students and colleagues alike. On any given day, he encounters several trying situations and even when tasks prove difficult, he never shies away from a challenge and is always one of the first to offer his time to help the students and/or faculty.

His dedication to student success never ceases, even when school is not in session. This past summer, Officer Blinkey volunteered to work as a camp counselor at EPD’s Camp Green Wave where he mentored several students and quickly became a camp favorite.

His tenacity and positive attitude are contagious, and he can always be seen with a smile on his face and kind words to offer.

If you see Officer Blinkey, be sure to congratulate him for his well-deserved achievement.
