Easley Hires Derrell Jackson as Varsity Boys’ Basketball Coach

Easley High School is announcing Mr. Derrell Jackson as the new Boys Basketball Coach at Easley High School. 

Coach Jackson is coming to Easley after a current 12 year stint at Wren High School in various coaching roles.  Most recently, Coach Jackson has been serving as Associate Head Coach at Wren High School under Head Coach Fran Campbell.  While working as a varsity assistant coach at Wren, Coach Jackson was paramount in their most recent run culminating in a 3A State Championship in 2022. 

Prior to this past season, Wren finished in the Upper State Finals in 2019 and 2018 while also finishing as State Runner-Up in 2016.  Other coaching positions for Coach Jackson include Wren JV Head Coach (2011-2014), Powdersville Middle School Head Coach (2007-2011), and Wren JV Assistant Coach (2004-2007). 

Coach Jackson has been successful by winning championships at every level that he has coached.

Coach Jackson is a 1999 graduate of Wren High School where he was a 4 year letterman and a 2 time All-State Player.  After high school, Coach Jackson played collegiately at Waukesha Tech in Wisconsin and then at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. 

Derrell is married to his wife Karen and they have 4 children: Nakol (24), Tyrell (22), Skye (18), and Drey (14).  Nakol played basketball collegiately at Georgia Southern and Tyrell is currently the quarterback at Johnson C. Smith University.  Coach Jackson will be on staff at Easley High School beginning in the fall.

There will be a community meet and greet for Coach Jackson and his family on Monday, April 17th, at 6 pm at Easley High School.
